Little Rock Comedy Nights: Where to Catch a Show
Little Rock has one full-time comedy club and a scattering of rooms that host comedy a few nights a week. That is enough to see something funny most weeks of the year if you know where to look.
The Loony Bin Comedy Club

The city's dedicated stand-up club and the room every touring comic plays when they come through Arkansas. It is a proper club: a low ceiling, a two-item minimum, a brick wall behind the mic, and a crowd that came specifically to laugh.
The Schedule
- Wednesday and Thursday: one show, usually around 7:30. Cheaper tickets, smaller crowd, and the headliner is often looser and working new material.
• Friday: typically two shows.
• Saturday: two shows. The early show is the polished set. The late show is the one where things go sideways, in the best way.
Which Show to Book
If it is your first time, take a Friday early show. If you have been before and want the real club experience, take the Saturday late show and sit three rows back - close enough to be in the room, far enough back that you are not getting picked on.
House Rules Worth Knowing
- There is a two-item minimum per person on top of the ticket. Budget for it.
• Doors open well before showtime and seating is often first-come within your ticket tier. Arriving thirty minutes early gets you a better seat.
• No recording. They mean it, and comics working new material have good reason.
• Heckling is not a bit. The comic will win and you will not enjoy it.
Cost
Tickets typically run 12 to 25 dollars depending on the night and the headliner, with the two-item minimum adding roughly 15 to 25 dollars per person. A full night out is realistically 40 to 60 dollars for two.
Beyond the Club
Open mics and bar shows come and go, but a few patterns hold:
- Downtown and Argenta bars host stand-up showcases on weeknights, usually free or a low cover. These are where local comics build sets.
• Improv troupes run periodic shows at small theaters and event spaces around town; check the Arkansas Times calendar, which we pull into the events feed nightly.
• Touring theater shows - the bigger comedy names who play seated venues rather than clubs - land at Robinson Center Performance Hall or The Hall.
Making a Night of It
The Loony Bin is on Rodney Parham in west Little Rock, not downtown, which changes the plan. Eat in the Breckenridge and Rodney Parham corridor before the show rather than driving in from the River Market. Parking at the club is free and on-site, which is a genuine advantage over downtown venues.
If you want the downtown night instead, look at the comedy showcases that pop up at bars along President Clinton Avenue and Main Street - lower stakes, lower cost, and you can walk to a music room afterward.
